Hause Creek Campground – 4th of July Weekend – Day 2…
All in all, we enjoyed our first day at Hause Creek Campground. We arrived and ended up with a great site and a relaxing evening!
We weren’t too excited about not having any showers the night before (seemingly very common when not at a state park, or private campground) or that morning, especially in our hot weather lately. It has been very hot for quite awhile now leading to a state-wide burn ban (more on that in a bit). However, it definitely helps to camp near some beautiful lakes. As a result, we packed up lunch and ventured away from the campground on a short drive to Rimrock Lake! This was a great campground to be at to be close to the lake! After driving around a good portion of the lake, we found a spot with a short hike down to a private beach area. It was a beautiful spot to swim and relax, and getting gear down was doable (not easy, but doable).
After a few hours, we arrived back at our campground and walked around to check out some empty sites for future consideration. The campground is right on a river that we learned was very cold and is accessible via some sites. We also found a great campsite if you are lucky enough to get that one… site 20!
After settling back at our site after a fun and relaxing day, we cooked up dinner. So, back to that burn ban topic… Since we couldn’t cook by campfire this time, we brought a gas camp stove and had a great and delicious meal!
Tomorrow, we will be packing up and heading home with a stop at Crystal Mountain along the way…
